What is the difference between the prepaid roaming service now and the previous one?

  1. In the past, the sub would have to indicate the number of days he would be roaming in order to activate the service. Now, the system would accept the request even if the number of days would be indicated or not.
  2. Before, there was no distinction between roaming destinations. Now, roaming destinations are classified into Special countries and Regular countries.
  3. Before, there was a limit of 180 days for the duration a sub could avail of the roaming service - in whatever destination he would go to. Now, the 180-day limitation applies only when a sub goes to a Special country. When he goes to a Regular country, there is no limitation as to the number of days he can avail of the roaming service.
  4. In the past, Globe Telecom's network could not identify the country he would go to. Now, the system does know where he travels. It even welcomes him when he arrives at his destination, and again when he comes home.
  5. Before, there was a series of periods where the sub would not be able to avail of roaming - a 'breathing period.' This would happen after the sub allows his roaming to end. Now, there is only one resting period that would apply only if the sub would let his roaming end and he is in a Special country.
In the past, the system would cancel the roaming service of a sub because they specified the duration of their roaming in their request. Now, the roaming can continue to roam indefinitely - the deactivation of the service would only occur once the sub would text GROAM OFF once he is back in the Philippines. He would be sent an SMS to remind him to do this when they get back in the Philippines.
